Manchester fans unsure what Aon is or does
Sports News: With Manchester United poised to win a record 19th title against Blackburn this Saturday, a majority of their fans are still clueless as to exactly what sponsors Aon actually are, or do.
“Is it a type of car? I’m fairly sure they make cars. Or vacuum cleaners?” said one puzzled fan ahead of the big game this weekend at Ewood Park.
“Oh yeah Aon!” said a confident spokesman for the Supporters Club. “Aon. I know this – I’ve seen the logo on a van I think, so they… must… sell… electricity?”
Team sponsorship has previously come under criticism after Seoul – the official destination partner for the team – saw very little increase in tourism from United fans. It’s a similar story for the official wine partner for the team, Concha y Toro, which has seen almost no increase in sales during matches, despite it being available by the pint.
“It’s almost like people don’t give a shit what’s on the shirts,” said one sponsorship manager.
