This American accused IKEA of disrespecting the Stars and Stripes and was schooled into next week

When IKEA shared their excitement at the opening of a new store in Jackonsville, Florida – you lucky, lucky people! – they probably expected all sorts of requests about opening times, how many bags of meatballs you’re allowed to buy in one visit, that sort of thing.

They might not have been expecting to be accused of disrespecting the American flag by flying the IKEA flag at the same height.

And we can only imagine the excitement in the IKEA office as they posted the response.

And just in case that’s tricky to read

‘The American flag is supposed to be flown higher than any other countries flag here’

And IKEA’s response.

‘Hi. Our flags are flown according to the United States code: (g) When flags of two or more nations are displayed, they are to be flown from separate staffs of the same height.

‘The flags should be of approximately equal size. International usage forbids the display of the flag of one nation above that of another nation in time of peace – Title 4, United States Code, Chapter 1, Section 7 – position and manner of display, subpoint (9g)

And the very best comment, after the exchange was shard on Reddit, goes to Redditor CrudelyAnimated.

‘Do not get into an argument with IKEA about how to assemble stuff.’

This furious IKEA rant is brilliant and the way IKEA responded is even better
