You don’t need to be a Liverpool or Celtic supporter to hate this Unite the Kingdom performance of You’ll Never Walk Alone – you just need working ears

If you’ve ever heard the fans at Anfield or Celtic Park raise what little roof there is with their spirited renditions of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Carousel anthem You’ll Never Walk Alone, you’ll know how stirring it can be.

The most famous cover of the song is the Gerry & the Pacemakers hit single, released in 1963, but another version might be about to bump it into second place – for all the wrong reasons.

At Tommy Robinson’s so-called Unite the Kingdom march and concert, which he predicted would be like an Oasis gig, minister and singer Rikki Doolan and his band sang the song to a dwindling crowd, and we can guarantee it dwindled a lot faster after they did.

Brace yourselves.

If you listen carefully, you can hear the sound of Richard Rodgers, Oscar Hammerstein II, Gerry Marsden and Bill Shankly, all frantically spinning in their graves.

People didn’t hold back with the reviews.
