‘Orwellian mortality maths’
A chap called Lev Parikian said he’d been waiting a while to do this and we’re glad he did.

‘We are now as far in the future from ‘1984’ as 1984 was when ‘1984’ was published’
And if you’re wondering what ‘mortality maths’ is, it’s the ‘pinning of memories to significant cultural events and then fretting unduly about how old it makes us feel’, according to this lovely piece from the Independent.
For those interested, the term ‘mortality maths’ was, as far as I know, coined by @petepaphides. There’s a nice piece by @Rhodri about it here: https://t.co/OfNhGDLIE0

Not in April, of course, but you can’t have everything.

Other than that, there are literally no parallels to be found between Orwell’s book and the world we live in today.

Brilliant! 🙂 Although you could have waited until 13:00 to post it 😉

Oh, that’s good. Thank you.
