Politics David dimbleby donald trump royalty
David Dimbleby just gave both barrels to Donald Trump and had Brits everywhere cheering
With Donald Trump busy mocking Keir Starmer, Britain’s military and basically the entire country right now for our refusal to join his war on Iran, it might not sound like the ideal time for King Charles to visit the US.
And yet here we are, after confirmation yesterday that the monarch would indeed be travelling to the States despite the Middle Eastern shitshow kicked off by Trump since the visit was first arranged.

The king does what the government tells him to do, but many people thought he absolutely 100% shouldn’t be going. And no-one said it better than David Dimbleby, the former grand fromage of broadcasting who knows his way around Buckingham Palace better than most.
And it’s two minutes or so very well spent.
“We’re dealing with a President who is a narcissist and a bully… a rebuke of some kind is necessary”
Broadcaster and journalist David Dimbleby says a US State Visit by King Charles “is a misuse of the King” and the UK is “giving Trump more than he deserves”.#Newsnight pic.twitter.com/7BPH9R8BIw

It’s just not cricket, right?
And here are just a few of the responses Dimblumblum (one for younger readers there) prompted.
1.
Couldn't agree more – Trump is becoming a mad king, the UK needs to distance itself and turn towards Europe.

Bang on. Politicians and media need to stop kissing yank arse and tell that maniac to fuck off. We've given the US ample time to invoke their constitution and course correct with impeachment or the 25th amendment, and they're going even harder on autocratic populist rule. Fuck'em

David is spot on
Lordy I miss honest intelligent presenters
He was also right about the BBC cutting the team that broadcasts national events such as the trooping the colour and armistice day

Interesting when veteran broadcasters get to say what they really think. And David Dimbleby was always one of the best. https://t.co/TCfHKZKXkU

We really should send Andrew he’s got more in common with Trump than the King.

8.
Definitely. The king should not go. https://t.co/OwDk7keJZd

Not everyone agreed, of course.
Who's we?
Does Mr Dimbelby consider himself part of Gov?
The King is attending the 250th US anniversary.

Well, let’s see how it plays out. We fear the worst.
