Time Out launch new title
Publishing News: Time Out is adding a new title to their successful portfolio of listings magazines, hoping to tap into what Justice Secretary Ken Clarke termed yesterday a ‘highly captive market’.
“We’re all about providing information that encourages people to get out and about,” a Time Out spokesperson enthused.
“We want to promote the myriad of entertainment options and cultural events on offer and we hope that the new Belmarsh edition of Time Out will expand the horizons of the readership way beyond their particular cell or landing or wing.”
“There is a common misconception that not much happens in high security prisons. We aim to dispel this myth. Prisons are no less brimming with the potential for great nights out than say, Liverpool.”
“In the launch issue we cover many exciting events including the controversial new mixed media exhibition in Big Steve’s cell.”
“Whether you see it as great art or just shabby pictures of tits cut out of tabloids and tacked onto the wall, not one single visitor walks out untouched by Big Steve.”
“Prisoners are a key demographic,” says Time Out’s publisher Jessica Smith, “If Belmarsh is a success then we will roll out the concept to Brixton, Wakefield, Pentonville – in fact anywhere there is high security fencing, the threat of violence and an art class.”
