When you know what’s going to happen but you still can’t believe it
Donald Trump’s White House hosted an event for the wives of people serving in the United States military and a chap called Ronald Klain noticed something about the picture and shared his thoughts on Twitter.
The WH hosted military spouses today. Our armed forces are 40% non-white. The odds that — BY CHANCE — a group of 52 military spouses would contain no people of color are lower than 100 trillion to 1. So, umm…. pic.twitter.com/zi6XzmzYBd

Wait for it …

Probably just a coincidence. Here’s what they made of it on Twitter.
1.
And there are no husbands. Men are military spouses, too.

2.
Its MOTHER’S day, thats why. But the fact they are all white is disturbing

Hi, @RonaldKlain. While I don't defend the current administration, I do as a journalist defend the truth. This photo was with the Air Force Officers' Wives Club. The Air Force is more than 75% white at all levels, and the officer corps–particularly over O-3–is near 90% white.

Even if that's true, it's simple combinatorics. If the odds of each additional person being white are 95%, say, what are the odds that a random selection of 52 people will have non non-white people in it?
(0.95)^52, or approximately zero.

People on Twitter can't grasp synonyms, and you're bringing up combinatorics?

6.
So perhaps the reason that there are no POC is because Ivanka got to pick and choose?
— Martin the Arrogant (@MMBakner) May 11, 2018
7.
Or perhaps the POC declined the invitation for some reason.

8.
That's also a very distinct possibility

who knew almost all military spouses were blond?
