Boris Johnson tried to troll Theresa May’s “fields of wheat” story but reaped a whole lot of burns – our 19 favourites
Former Foreign Secretary and persistent self-promoter, Boris Johnson, is due to address the Conservative Party Conference today, which should be one to watch as he has recently ramped up his criticism of the Prime Minister in his drive to get her job.
In a sad little stunt that typifies his style, he allowed himself to be photographed running through a field, or rather a patch of scrubland that can pass as a field, in an obvious nod to Theresa May’s claim that running through fields of wheat was the naughtiest thing she’s done.
I was wondering if this was a spoof…. apparently not https://t.co/7mbP5E8dny

The photo-op has been roundly mocked, with these 19 excellent burns standing out from the field. Pun intended.

As Boris Johnson runs through a field of wheat mocking the naughtiest thing Theresa May has done, The PM responds by making multiple insensitive diplomatic statements, wastes millions on a bridge, babbles incoherently, has several affairs and bets the whole UK on a promotion. pic.twitter.com/jvra7qAa7P

Boris Johnson mocking Theresa May by running through a scrubland of inedible grasses while hoping voters believe it's actually wheat is the most perfect Brexit metaphor of conference season so far… pic.twitter.com/NrJT7Ulf1r
