This war doctor’s story of the day he met the Queen is such a lovely, moving moment
We’re grateful to Rufus Jones for sharing this excerpt of a review from the diaries of war doctor David Nott, an NHS surgeon who has volunteered in conflict zones from Sarajevo to Syria.
Here he is remembering the moment he had lunch with the Queen and whatever you think of Her Maj, it’s a truly lovely moment.

This is a lovely story and puts all concerned in a truly humane light.

Told even more movingly on his desert island disks, which is a proper tearjerker throughout.

That’s so lovely. I heard him speak once and he was so gentle and unassuming despite all the horrors he’s seen and the incredible work he’s done, he’s a remarkable man. The Queen sounds lovely too.
