An attempt to shame Diane Abbott for drinking on TfL massively backfired – 19 cheers for her
As the bank holiday weekend arrived, Diane Abbott did something absolutely horrendous in public for which she should be eternally ashamed – if some reactions were anything to go by. No, she didn’t unveil a billboard showing a long line of immigrants, with the words “Breaking Point”, she …brace yourselves … quietly drank from a can of M&S Mojito on a Transport for London train, which is illegal.
Unfortunately for her, she was spotted and photographed by a former Metropolitan police chief who sent the photo to the Sun, that well-known moral arbiter.
The MP for Hackney responded with this tweet:
A photo of me drinking from a can of M&S mojito on the Overground has been circulated. I'm sincerely sorry for drinking on TFL.

A debate immediately sprang up online, with some taking the opportunity to berate her.
Amazingly, this is not a spoof. Very “woman of the people” choice of drink. https://t.co/HdNQxGOJ1R

Call me old-fashioned but I really expect better of Diane Abbott. Those defending her should consider where society would be if we all decided to flout the law. TfL introduced an alcohol ban for a reason and everyone, including politicians, should obey it.https://t.co/8xlAT9eun2

If you are upset by Diane drinking a can of mojoto on the Underground and not the British prime minister selling arms to Saudi Arabia from a tax avoiding company where her husband is the majority share holder then your morals are a hypocritical mess. Grow up.
