Everything we thought we knew about the French is wrong
Just another ordinary day in a French supermarket when they discover that Nutella is 70% off.

You could call it a right pasting. We particularly like people’s comments in the background, which is exactly what anyone who doesn’t speak much French would be imagining French people saying at that moment.

Police were called after the Intermarché chain of supermarkets cut 950g jars of Nutella from €4.50 to €1.41, a 70% discount, reports the Guardian.
Here’s what one eye witness said.
“They are like animals. One woman had her hair pulled. An elderly lady took a box on her head. Another had a bloody hand.”
And another.
“People were piling in, they knocked everything over and broke stuff. It was an orgy.”
Zut alors!
Who says sugar is not a drug?

And here’s what people made of it online.
1.
If you've ever had breakfast in France, you can understand the Nutella riots.

What struck me about the #Nutella riots is how much they charge for it in France. Build the Boris bridge, we bring Nutella, they bring wine, we'll meet and swap in the middle

Those French Nutella Riots will be nothing – NOTHING – compared to the forthcoming Marmite Wars.

This should put a stop to it.
I used to quite like Nutella until I saw the picture of it split up into its constituent parts.. pic.twitter.com/dOGCEhQQux

What’s the worst scrapping you’ve seen for a big discount?
