Sainsbury’s boss accidentally filmed singing something a little callous after Asda merger announcement

Retail giants Sainsbury’s and Asda have agreed a merger, a deal which will almost certainly lead to job losses for some employees.

However, when the CEO of Sainsbury’s, Mike Coupe, was interviewed on ITV News, he was recorded singing We’re in the Money before he realised he was on air.

Some people think the lyrics may be a little callous under the circumstances.

“We’re in the money,
The sky is sunny,
Let’s spend it, lend it, send it, rolling along.”

It isn’t the first time a man with enormous power has made a potentially damaging decision with a song in his heart.
