This doctor had the perfect response to Jeremy Hunt after he called Boris Johnson a ‘coward’
Jeremy Hunt labelled Boris Johnson a ‘coward’ this week after he ducked a planned live Sky News debate between the two Tory leader wannabes.
Which he indubitably is.
But whether Hunt is the man to make that call is another matter after the always followable Rachel Clarke, a palliative care doctor and best-selling author, called him out on Twitter.
And it’s quite the read.
While I’m delighted @Jeremy_Hunt is taking @BorisJohnson to task, not once during the junior doctor dispute did he *ever* have the guts to debate a junior doctor live on air. I asked him multiple times – but he ran a mile. https://t.co/q2vDdliKFH

He event sprinted up a staircase to avoid this junior doctor, @DaganLonsdale…. https://t.co/MgJqwEa7ZE

And when we protested outside the Department of Health, for a whole month he used a secret underground back entrance, rather than face a junior doctor. https://t.co/Y3exVRXJwM

It’s the ‘secret underground back entrance’ that makes it for us.
And then, of course, there was the time when Ralf Little asked the then health secretary to debate with him on live TV.
No, that didn’t end well for Hunt either.
I interviewed Hunt once. It was at the Department of Health, in a room containing many chairs, but he insisted that we do it standing up. Threatened to call it off if we didn’t concur. Still no idea why. It was suggested that he would look less awkward if he walked off midway. https://t.co/vHrx5mp3B9

It would be great if there could be a panel of doctors that interview @Jeremy_Hunt and @BorisJohnson on the @NHSuk in the #ToryLeadeshipContest.
Besides that, get a doctor on @bbcquestiontime panel to challenge the politicians on the National Health Service.#NHS— Mo Farooq (@MoFarooq9) June 24, 2019
Worth recalling this as Jeremy Hunt climbs his moral mole hill to look down on Boris Johnson https://t.co/DcGppVqhQ6

It’s not the first time Rachel Clarke has taken down Jeremy Hunt.
1. How *dare* you describe us as ‘sitting on our laurels’?
2. Everything we achieve is in spite of your punitive NHS underfunding.
3. Staff are struggling so hard, every day, against such odds, for our patients.
4. Drop the royal ‘we’, please. You are not NHS staff. https://t.co/JtdfXUGBL7

Not that she’s a fan of the Hunt alternative, we hasten to add.
