Lee Hurst trying to own the Libs went as well as you’d expect – 9 glorious takedowns
Once upon a time, there was a man called Lee Hurst who worked as a comedian. He did some TV gigs and had quite a distinctive look, so he became well known. Unfortunately, Lee went simultaneously right-wing and left field with a tweet about torture, after Donald Trump had spoken in support of the practice.
He followed this up with increasingly frequent complaints about “the left”, and unbridled support for Tommy Robinson, as well as – predictably – coming out in favour of Brexit at any cost.
He recently treated Twitter to the benefit of his decades of comedy experience with this joke:
Over at the Trivial Pursuit Championships…
NORMAL PERSON: What is the capital of Peru?
'HERD' LEFT:: Racist!
NORMAL PERSON: I'm afraid that's wrong, it's Lima.
'HERD' LEFT: No you're wrong because you're racist.
NORMAL PERSON: What did I say that was racist?
'HERD LEFT: Racist.— Lee Hurst (@2010LeeHurst) June 30, 2019
There were replies …there are always replies.

Have the ‘HERD’ LEFT entered the Trivial Pursuit Championships as a team? How did they get selected? Do they take this attitude to all the questions, or just the Peru one? If they do this on all questions how on earth did they get this far? If not, what’s the issue with Peru? https://t.co/IJ3DYtFgVq

I don't want to over analyse that tweet but I would have expected the Trivial Pursuit world championship to come in with a higher level of difficulty than what is the capital of Peru?

I think it's really brave of you to test out new material on Twitter like this, presumably as a second opinion.

Hi. It’s not my job to offer you professional advice. But I think future jokes would work better with some entertaining or amusing content.

Ern Malley applied a little Lee Hurst logic to the situation.
Let us try a thought experiment. Imagine strapping this tweet to a baby. Would you torture the tweeter? https://t.co/rNYKgVocBQ
