South Yorkshire Fire Service’s pro-LGBT+ video uses negative comments in a funny and positive way
February is LGBT History Month in the UK, with events to raise awareness of how the community has been treated and reacted throughout the past, as well as highlighting works by LGBT writers, artists and activists.
South Yorkshire‘s fire department has produced a fantastic video in support of their LGBT colleagues and the wider community, and they’ve turned negative reactions from the past into something really powerful.
Last year we got a load of abuse when we added the rainbow flag to our profile picture.
We don't think homophobic abuse is acceptable and we stand with all those LGBT+ people we serve and employ ️

Here are a few of the very positive responses the clip has received.
We love this response from @SYFR, well done! Unfortunately we have received similar comments.
There's no place for homophobia, biphobia or transphobia in the workplace or our communities. ️#LGBTHM2020 https://t.co/TIMJtvmLzQ

Note to all the fancy Hollywood directors.. you don't need to spend a fortune on CGI for amazing special effects! Brilliant and thank you all ️ pic.twitter.com/6UG5gxne4J

Sadly, some people never learn.
Go put out a fire or rescue a cat from a tree. If you have so much spare time maybe your staff should be transferred to a busier area.
