‘When I was a kid I kicked my football over our back fence in the garden of the house backing into ours. I knocked to ask for it back, the old lady who lived there led me through her house so I could search her garden for it…
Odd thing was though that every single table in her house had human legs, with trousers and shoes on. I remember two small side tables vividly next to each other, one with brown suit trousers and brogues on and the other with a skirt, tights and high heels…
I was kind of disturbed by this and told my mum and dad who to this day think I made it up. I thought she was a witch and I was lucky to escape without being transformed into a chair.’

‘Once went home with a young lady, and her living room was full of those life like baby dolls. You know the ones that advertise themselves as having realistic hair and skin.
They were displayed everywhere, there must have been at least two dozen of them on shelves in the living room and another handful in her bedroom. I was about 23 so it didn’t put me off none, but I could feel them staring at me.’

The walls of the living room were hung with various items related to the Second World War, shall we say, including medals, commendations etc. The grandson spotted me looking at a framed group photograph on a side table which was clearly of the Hitler Youth and without batting an eyelid, started pointing out various family members.
