A student Tory activist went on the Today programme to suggest it was harder to come out as a Conservative than it is to come out as gay.
“When you come out as a Conservative, you’re almost vilified to an extent … a third of all of our association are gay, and most of them have said it’s harder to come out to their parents as a conservative than as being gay”.
A Sun journalist quoted them on Twitter and the replies were golden.
“It’s easier to come out as gay now than it is to come out as a Conservative” @BBCr4today

That is so true, my kids are the only true Cons at a Secondary and they are being isolated and ostracised. This country has lost every part of its foundations !

How encouraging 😁

your kids are in favour of people dying hungry in the streets, of course their peers don't want to associate with them.

When was being a Conservative illegal ? Remind me please.
— John Fielder – #JC4PM (@JohnFielder1) December 7, 2017
technically, there are already laws against fraud, theft, terrorism, and murder, but for some reason when you call it "conservatism", it's allowed.

That's because there is no rational reason to be a conservative.

That's one of the stupidest things I've ever heard.

Massively tone-deaf and inappropriate given the history of conservatives and other right-wingers in this country endorsing and encouraging violence, oppression and discrimination against the gay community.
— Matthew Lowery (@mjlwry) December 7, 2017
I don't think Tories have ever attacked gay people. A lot of conservatives are gay themselves. I don't support Tories, but I can't agree with that comment.

Who do you think implemented laws which criminalised homosexuality, ending in execution or imprisonment? Who murdered gay and trans people in the streets? The fairies? Progressives? Who was it who implemented Section 28? Don't come at me with this offensive unhistorical crap.

Imagine thinking people disagreeing with your views is worse than decades of oppression, violence, prejudice, death that LGBT people have faced and continue to struggle with today. Can’t relate.

Remember when it was illegal to be a Tory? When you could be arrested or killed for it? When you got kicked out of your house? Or couldnt get married or have kids? Or the high rates of homelessness and suicide of tory youth? Yeah, me neither.

“Come out as conservative” what the fuck? You can’t be serious. It’s illegal to be gay in 70+ countries, and here, a straight white man, is crying that his political views are more frowned upon. Shut the fuck up.

And that's because there's nothing wrong with being gay…

Good. People should be judged on their choices, not their sexuality.
