This breastfeeding mum was asked to ‘cover up’ and she had the perfect response
A mother of twins was asked by someone to ‘cover up’ while she breastfed in a restaurant and she had the perfect response.
So she asked her husband to pass her a cover and did this.
Probably not what the person was expecting but you have to admit, it’s got it covered.
Here’s what the mum, Melanie Dudley, had to say.
“I’m usually discreet, but we were seated in the back of the restaurant. Breastfeeding is hard enough. This is another layer we don’t need to deal with.”
And here’s what the person who took the picture said on Facebook.
“A friend’s daughter-in-law was told to “cover up” while feeding her baby, so she did! I’ve never met her, but I think she’s AWESOME!!! (Please share! With permission, I’ve made this post public — I’m SO over people shaming women for nursing!!!
[PS: To reduce speculation: it was a man who asked her to cover up, it was 90 degrees and extremely humid, and, no, she wasn’t in a Muslim country disrespecting traditions.”
Which reminded us of this woman who’s response to someone who disapproved of her breastfeeding went viral because it was 10/10.
The look on mum Ashley Kaidel’s face was ambiguous until you read the circumstances around this picture, taken as she breastfed her baby in a restaurant.
And this is what she said on Facebook in a post that went wildly viral, shared more than 120,000 times.
“In the picture, it appears I’m staring off into the distance. In reality, I’m staring into the eyes of a woman staring at me. She is looking at me with disgust and shaking her head with judgement in an attempt to shame me and indirectly tell me without words that I am wrong and need to cover myself.
“I do this for the person that has the mentality ‘Boobs are to be covered. They’re for your husbands eyes only. They’re intimate. It’s a personal/private thing to feed your baby. Cover up out of respect. My kids don’t need to see that. Walk out of the room’ and any other derogatory, close-minded comments and sentiments alike.
“[B]reasts were made to sustain your baby’s life before they were made to bring pleasure to any other man, woman, partner or spouse. Their sole purpose is to make food and dispense it straight into a baby’s mouth. There is nothing weird about this and there’s no difference in me feeding my baby with my breast than you feeding yourself with a spoon.”
