Jacob Rees-Mogg lost it with Mishal Husain over his far-right AFD tweet – the only 9 replies you need
Jacob Rees-Mogg was on Radio 4’s Today programme and we admit that’s not something we’d ordinarily bother you with.
But today’s appearance was memorable for the moment the arch Brexiteer completely boiled over when asked by presenter Mishal Husain about the tweet he sent of a speech made by the co-leader of the far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD) party.
Here’s some of what he had to say.
‘Well I think this is typical of the BBC’s obsession – dare I say it the Today programme obsession.
‘Hold on. You must be patient and not interrupt because the answer needs to be given properly. The BBC does have this obsession.’
You can hear the whole exchange here – it’s two minutes well spent.
.
And here are just a few of the things people were saying about it.
1.
Jacob Rees-Moog utterly loses it with @MishalHusainBBC and @BBCr4today for her persistent questioning over his AfD tweets, branding it “an obsession” and “typical of its leftie approach”.

Well that was curious. @Jacob_Rees_Mogg on #r4today repeatedly refusing to say which of the far-right AfD’s policies he disagrees with. Asked explicitly for his views on their anti-immigrant stance, he refused to answer, patronisingly filibustering until the end of the interview.

The condescending and hostile way Jacob Rees-Mogg speaks to Mishal Husain is quite extraordinary – and revealing. She's a saint for maintaining her cool and had him rattled.

4.
Could @Jacob_Rees_Mogg be any more patronising towards @MishalHusainBBC right now? #bbctoday

Mishal was brilliant. Could feel the total rage simmering beneath that entirely contrived public school persona https://t.co/stmsoqaw1d

Hilarious interview w Mogg. Mishal Husain serenely exposes him for the malevolent, twisted, hysterical little shit that he really is. He may hang on to the mahhhney he loves so much but he’s about to lose everything else. Cue: Tomorrow *Doesn’t* Belong To Me.

Rarely heard the usually unflappable Jacob Rees Mogg as he is right now with @MishalHusainBBC, unusually losing his temper just a touch. He’s rattled. As was very clear from my conversations with ERGers last night, they’re furious but have not a clue how to stop the PM.

At the very end Rees- Mogg completely lost it – "This is typical of the Today programme's lefty view!" An indication of how far to the Right he stands – he reckons Robinson, Humphrys, Sands and co are Lefty! https://t.co/2mNNumftNk

Jacob Rees-Mogg – the dark Derek Nimmo – gets away with not answering a question about his quoting of AFD so we can cut away to a piece about Giant salamanders. Pathetic. #r4today

And that wasn’t all. This exchange was pretty good too.
Jacob Rees-Mogg on PM's #Brexit plan: "There's a big disconnect between politicians and voters. The majority of MPs never wanted to leave the EU, and still don't… by reaching out to the Labour party, Leave voters are being disenfranchised"https://t.co/SFmq6YL2hA #r4today pic.twitter.com/LvBeUj5Erf
