Someone checked the Twitter feed of one of the people on this election leaflet and this is what they found
A man called Pete Wilson got an election leaflet for the Conservative party through the door and thought they’d check out the Twitter feed of the candidates.

Nothing like knowing exactly the sort of people who are campaigning for your vote, right?
And this is what he found (if you are easily offended, please steer clear).

Got an advert for the @Conservatives through the door today. Checked out the twitter feed of one of the candidates, and, oh… (thread) pic.twitter.com/5I75gOd8pW

I’ve been thinking about this since I posted it. 5 years is a long time and heaven knows I talked complete crap when I was 18. Ultimately though, the Cons were/are going to win this ward regardless of the candidate…

But the biggest thing for me is that we, the electorate, were being asked to vote for this candidate. He might not hold some of these views now – but if he wants to represent us, are we really expected to just ‘give him the benefit of the doubt’?

If anyone is wondering "what kind of person would become a conservative local council candidate at 23 years old" here is your answer.https://t.co/YjAZmGH2CP pic.twitter.com/kpR5AwMeEz

What a vile little scrote. Or 'libertarian Conservative' as his Twitter bio inevitably explains. https://t.co/74k0Ytw3lb

And an update from the local paper in Cambridge…
Mr Stoakley has since made his Twitter feed private.
He had earlier begun deleting some of the controversial messages before making his account private.
