Men infuriated by an all-women panel on a new BBC politics show is today’s best thing
The BBC launched a new politics show today and it wouldn’t normally attract our attention but Politics Live, hosted by Jo Coburn, did something slightly different.
See if you can spot it.
BBC starts new daily political show. There’s something refreshingly different about it. Can’t quite put my finger on it… #politicslive #women #notdifficult pic.twitter.com/AeyvZCuUxm

Come on, we’ve got to hurry you.
Not one man on the #PoliticsLive panel for launch day. pic.twitter.com/wZ6n2Trm8r

That’s it!
And it made a lot of people happy because, well, you don’t see it very often.

Not everyone was delighted though. In fact, a lot of men were angry. Very, very angry.
Very much enjoying the sheer fury of men suddenly discovering they care about equal gender representation on television discussion panels. #politicslive pic.twitter.com/VHmm7En4R3

Here are our favourites (and some brutal replies).
1.
Why? What if it was all men and I said happy to see all men? I’d be crucified.
This is clearly how the woke producers want to show us politics needs to change #politicslive …
We just want equality of opportunity, not just outcome @RobBurl hold your woke head in shame

2.
I have literally zero shame about an all-women panel. Zero. We invited people and they said yes and then we realised our best line-up was all female. If you have a problem with that, you have a problem. #politicslive https://t.co/FZNO5trhDE

3.
Is it #politicslive or Loose Women??
— Justin Currie (@Justincurrie7) September 3, 2018
4.
It is Politics Live. It is not Loose Women. Hope that helps.

5.
Oh no! My worst nightmare comes true.
Dreadful new BBC flagship politics programme #politicslive.
Whatever happened to the in-depth, pithy interviews that drilled down to the facts.
This is just dumbed down chit-chat – political “Loose Women”.

6.
“imagine if there was an all male panel” signals to me that this man has never watched any political show in his life

7.
5 white, 1 Asian …… all of menopausal age and not one with long hair. Diverse?
— local newsasian (@Local_Newsasian) 3 September 2018
8.
I realise it’s probably been some time since you encountered a woman in real life, but I’m not sure you quite understand the menopause, or indeed hair length.
