This video of a deaf boy watching Rob Delaney sign a bedtime story will warm your heart
The CBeebies bedtime slot has been filled by some famous faces, including Tom hardy, Elton John and Ewan McGregor, but comedian and actor, Rob Delaney, recently brought something extra to the role by using Makaton sign language.
Rob learnt to use Makaton to communicate with his young son, Henry, who sadly died of a cancerous brain tumour at just two years of age, but the skills he picked up have meant a lot to other youngsters, perhaps none more so than 6-year-old Tom McCartney.
So beautiful. What a wonderful family you are xx

As well as being deaf, Tom has had many operations due to a serious heart defect, and has complex physical and developmental problems. His story has touched everyone.
This is such a beautiful thing and Rob Delaney is a beautiful man. https://t.co/k8UVjeExKl

The @BBC comes in for a fair amount of stick, but then it does things like this… https://t.co/VHXKLwcPip

Tom’s mum, Laura, summed up what Makaton has meant to them.
Thank you so much to everyone for the kind words and response to Tom’s video – I feel so blessed to share it to let you all see how much Makaton has transformed our lives… it’s given Tom a voice, a way to interact with the world around him, and helps him ask for what he needs https://t.co/WUdh44XB0o

While Rob has broken new ground with the Makaton Cbeebies bedtime story, he gave a shout-out to the godfather of children’s TV signing –
Justin Fletcher taught Henry & the rest of our family Makaton via Mr. Tumble. He is my hero & I would kill for him, no questions asked. https://t.co/lSHUbRdxWS
