This ‘Do They Know It’s Christmas?’ Cover has gone viral because it’s a work of sheer genius
We’re a third of the way through December, which means you will have heard the Band Aid single, “Do They Know It’s Christmas?” approximately 378 times this year – or more, if you work in retail. It’s not a song that gets covered all that much, but this new version will definitely take the crown for Best Cover, no matter what follows. Watch it and see why.
The effort put in by football parody songwriter, Game Jam, must have been Herculean, with the names of no fewer than 119 footballers – past and present – closely mimicking the lyrics of the original song. The singing’s pretty good, too. The video has been viewed more than 35,000 times on YouTube in three days, but is also on other platforms, where it’s picking up shares and views at a rate of knots. One such share was by Paralympian discus thrower, Dan Greaves on Twitter.
This tweet alone has over a million views and almost 10,000 retweets, as well as inviting these amazed comments.

Perhaps best of all was this rounding endorsement.
All together now – RIEDEL, VORM, MEDEL, GOMES, RONDON, BYRNE …
