Golden Globes viewers were shocked by Christian Bale’s accent – 15 five-star reviews
Actor Christian Bale was born in Wales, but spent most of his childhood in England and has a fairly standard southern English accent, but viewers who know him as Batman – or Bateman in American Psycho – plus a number of other prominent roles, would have had no reason to know that.
Consequently, when he stepped up to accept his Golden Globe award for Best Actor in a Motion Picture Musical or Comedy for ‘Vice’, his normal accent took a lot of people by surprise and they rushed to Twitter to comment.
His speech had an interesting start.

The biggest surprise of the night for me has been the sudden shock of remembering that IRL Christian Bale sounds like pre-makeover Eliza Doolittle
