The Brexit Express chugged into town and the jokes came steaming in – our 9 favourites
Having milked every last drop of usefulness out of buses, the Brexiters are now boasting about their train, which is – naturally – a steam train that does nothing but chug around with “The Brexit Express” written on it. Already, the metaphors are stacking up. Pro-Leave MP, Steve Baker, tweeted a clip of the engine when he went to see it with his colleague, David Davis.

It’s a product of some of the most creative minds of the 19th century, maintained in current times more for its nostalgia value than for its efficiency or practicality – and so is the train. Of course, watching the clip of the cumbersome and polluting machinery rolling backwards provided low-hanging fruit for Twitter comedians.

As if that weren’t enough self-owning from the Brexiters, convicted electoral fraudster, Darren Grimes, posted this image of himself standing by a stationary Brexit Express.
