Only 4 responses you need to the Daily Star front page slagging off ‘snowflake’ kids for getting help with their mental health
This Daily Star front page went viral but not, presumably, for the reasons they would have hoped for (although it’s the Daily Star so probably best not to assume too much).
It was shared today by a Twitter account which focuses on the responsible reporting of mental health issues.
RT if you think the primary school whose pupils were called ‘snowflakes’ on front page of @Daily_Star for doing mindfulness lessons deserve an apology/explanation (after several contact attempts they haven’t replied to us, come on twitter – get involved!) https://t.co/G6oNpkt6KE pic.twitter.com/qwa8W2klgg

And was widely picked up by other people, with these 4 responses capturing it best.
This is absolutely vile. Imagine an editorial conference where adults came up with the idea of insulting and abusing children on the front page of a national 'newspaper' for the unspeakable crime of getting a bit of help with their mental health & happiness. Scumbags. https://t.co/eMe9j1ub20

This is a fascinating choice of headline – one look at mental health statistics show that eating disorders, OCD, self-harm and suicidal ideation in young children is through the roof. The idea you'd mock attempts to help children who are genuinely tormented is kind of .. awful https://t.co/VY5DxxdoV5

Heading into #MentalHealthAwarenessMonth Its headlines and reporting like this that remind us that there's still a long way to go when it comes to changing attitudes towards mental well being. https://t.co/FQItEjtX4m

So great that we have a press willing to take on the big issues of the day like [squints] bullying the fuck out of 9-year-olds for having poor mental health https://t.co/r4xkjudlWF
