Sophie Turner, James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender explain English, Scottish and Irish slang

Great Britain and Ireland are close neighbours, but that doesn’t mean we’re all speaking the same language – sometimes literally, with Scots Gaelic, Irish, Welsh and Cornish all rubbing shoulders with English. But it’s slang words and phrases we’re concerned with today, as we see three stars of the screen try to explain how their own bits of the country communicate.

It’s very telling that “Away with the fairies” and “Arse over tit” seem to be unifying phrases, meaning a bit out of it and taking a massive fall. Is this because we’re all clumsy space cadets? It would explain a lot.
