This clip of a Labour MP destroying John Humphrys with words is quite the listen
There was an extraordinary exchange on Radio 4’s Today programme when Labour MP Andy McDonald called out presenter John Humphrys for getting his Donald Trump facts wrong.
Humphrys suggested that Trump had not said the NHS was on the table in any future trade negotiations between the UK and the US and Macdonald, quite rightly, was having none of it.
The interview sent Humphrys (and the R4 programme) viral on Twitter, if not quite for the reasons they would have wanted. It’s quite the listen.
This clip of @AndyMcDonaldMP nailing John Humphrys on his Trump apologia, has brightened up my morning. It’s usually not the interviewee’s job to challenge the interviewer on blatantly false statements, but this is where we are now, it seems. pic.twitter.com/oKdzi4NHrA

People compared and contrasted the presenter’s approach when he interviewed Nigel Farage an hour earlier.

And just a few of the other things people were saying about it.

This is probably one of the best interviews with John Humphrys. Andy Macdonald did a great job forcing him to admit what Trump said, impressive. #r4today

Waiting for John Humphrys’ retirement like a five-year-old waits for Christmas morning.
