Meera Syal had a lovely response to this criticism of ‘no Beatles movie’ Yesterday
Opinion appears to be divided over Danny Boyle’s new movie Yesterday, which imagines a world in which a struggling musician (Hamish Patel) is the only person who has heard of the Beatles.
Some people are put off by the conceit of the movie because it’s so, you know, unbelievable. Except this person spotted something in the film which was even harder to get their head round.

Lots of people responded, including one of the cast, Sanjeev Bhaskar.
We were only trying to fit in! 🙂

It made the whole concept crumble if I’m being honest. I could suspend my disbelief for the beatles not existing. But outdoor shoes in the house?!

At least you hopefully know there was a carom board in the house. Straight choice shoes or carom board. #sophieschoice

I’m going tonight. There’s no one touching books with their feet is there? Or shoes on sofa? My mother will rise from the grave and hit me for just watching that.

Sorry, no spoilers:)

But the best response came from another of the film’s cast (and Bhaskar’s wife) Meera Syal.
When you say 'tupperware', you mean empty yoghurt pots and ice cream tubs, right?
