Just a lovely thread to restore your faith in humanity in these troubled times
Here’s a lovely thing, an appeal that went out on Twitter by a woman called Deborah Price on behalf of her friend and her daughter.
You might have thought it was a long shot, all things considered, but the way people responded was just amazing and it’s today’s best thing.
STOP THE CLOCK! Yesterday I put a tweet out asking people if they had this Next dress from 3 years ago because my friend @mousmakes has a daughter with autism who can only wear that dress. I asked people not to judge because in the scheme of things it doesn’t matter does it. 1/10 pic.twitter.com/AbqmR4zd6z

She’ll eventually grow out of her fascination with this dress or not. Who cares. Doesn’t matter. It would just give her and her mum a bit of breathing space and make the dress stress less. Well you know how Twitter’s generally a bit of a bear pit these days? Well.. 2/10

.. well it wasn’t yesterday. Something lovely happened. People started to retweet it to look for the dress. Some people found a link on eBayfor a top in the same fabric, some offered to make another dress but.. 3/10 pic.twitter.com/ebFfnKsz8L

4/10 it wouldn’t have worked because she needs this particular distressed jersey *textile designer face* Even @nextofficial with their great big corporate office & profit margins to watch said they’d speak to the suppliers this week & see if there was any fabric left to run up.. pic.twitter.com/71WimbzMgi

..another small batch of dresses for Kate’s daughter. In the end one lady @KTMBrand said her daughter had an age 16 one & she’s sending it to us, it’ll be too big but it doesn’t matter it’ll be OK if she needs this dress for a few more years, another lady has an age 10 one (5/10)

and she’s sending it to us (6/10) ..

(it’s a little small but the my friend’s daughter can wear it at home meaning that her other one can be worn when she’s out and about) and then the most amazing tweet! STOP THE CLOCK! A girl called Mila found her age 12 dress which will be perfect.. 7/10 pic.twitter.com/Eiu65cJCQH

.. and she said to her mum @Nicolearumugam that she would send it to us. I told the mum to tell Mila how kind she is, she’s given my friend some breathing space and made her daughter’s day too. Not only that but she’s said I can share this story (8/10)

because I think it totally restores your faith in human nature. Absolutely bowled over by the kindness of strangers. Massive thanks to each and every one of you from me and @MousMakes and huge thanks to the two girls who have chosen to send their dresses. (9/10)

You’re amazing and your mums are pretty amazing too for raising such lovely daughters but mostly you’re great because you’ve made a little girl really happy to continue to be in her favourite dress.. (10/10) pic.twitter.com/Q0szue1hGa

Simply brilliant!
And all these people agreed …
This Is lovely. Our autistic son loves his ‘crocodile man’ action figure, he broke one of the arms off and and my beautiful wife to be, @LouLouDonaldson managed to find a replacement on eBay. Great that the good people in the universe got together to make this happen 👍

Thanks for sharing this story! With all the nonsense on Twitter at the moment, this was really heartwarming to read. Not ashamed to say I cried some happy tears!
