This epic Kick Start crash is as as eye-wateringly funny as when we first saw it
We used to love everything about Kick Start – the music, Peter Purves, and the crashes. Most of all the crashes.
And they didn’t come much better than this one, not just the initial slip but everything that happens after it.
The clip was shared by the always followable BBC Archive Twitter account to mark 40 years since the BBC1 programme began – 40 years!
#OnThisDay 1979: Motorcycle obstacle extravaganza Kick Start made its debut. Apart from the theme tune, this clip from 1985 is probably our favourite bit. pic.twitter.com/3qCzj1XFd5

Pure, unadulterated joy. Apart from for the poor lad at the centre of it, of course.
Remember this clip really well; it's the fella in the background howling with laughter that makes it for me!

And even these chaps joined in.
Iconic.
