Mikhail Gorbachev’s Pizza Hut ad is the weirdest celebrity endorsement of all time
In one of those “How the heck is this not common knowledge?” moments, we’ve discovered that the former President of the Soviet Union, Mikhail Gorbachev, once featured in a Pizza Hut advert. Here it is, in all its glory.
The advert, filmed in 1997, saw the politician alongside his granddaughter in a Moscow Pizza Hut, an establishment that would never have been allowed in the old USSR before Gorbachev introduced widespread reforms and a new openness to other cultures. It came to our attention when @zei_nabq tweeted this:

A lot of other people were as surprised as we were, and promptly reacted to the tweet.
