‘I am ginger. I hate summer because of the amount of sunblock I have to apply. I don’t like baring skin. I feel trapped indoors when the UV index is above a 3. Every freckle is faliure.

I like opening windows at night and not having mosquitoes. The darkness is beautiful too. Much of the summer we only get twilight, and don’t see the stars.’

‘It means I don’t have to sweat profusely every time I leave the house, it means I can enjoy being out and about, cozy jumpers with patterns on them, hot drinks become an option again like coffee and hot chocolate, autumn and winter are the best times of year to go to the beach, I can enjoy the breeze and the scenery in peace. How it feels to eat a hot meal after just coming in from the cold. Bundling up with blankets and making yourself a little nest.

To be honest I don’t get what people like about summer. I understand spring and I quite enjoy spring, but I can’t wait to see the back of summer and get my jumpers out.’

‘Autumn is my favourite season. It has that deep, melancholic atmosphere that goes right to the very core of my soul. Chill, frosty mornings with crystal clear skies. Those beautiful mellow sunny days when the whole world is a shade of gold. The smell of wood smoke and gentle rot. It’s the perfect British season too, because it’s the one time of year our weather does exactly what it’s supposed to without letting you down.’

‘I’m not sweating my tits off. I can walk around in hoodies and joggers. Sitting outside in a warm thick coat and a hot chocolate and looking at the sky is relaxing. If I change my mind on doing something can easily say ‘Nah weathers a bit shit today’.

When I do go out it’s more indoor activities like paint a pot instead of just going to the pub with my mates. Wearing comfy warm pjs inside next to the wood burner while reading a book is one of the best feelings ever.’

‘I actually really like the period between Christmas and New Year, when not much happens, and then January, because it feels so peaceful and like a fresh start after the busyness and stress of Christmas. No one wants to do anything because the weather is rubbish and they don’t have any money after Christmas. Bars and restaurants are so much less busy as are many touristy activities. It’s introvert heaven. And you know you’ve got the longer daylight hours and whole of the spring and summer to come.’

‘Because during the summer, its too chaotic – people become more annoying in cars, on public transport, in public parks, peak tourism/stag and hen do’s etc. Life slows down when it rains, it’s quieter on the streets. Perfect for my poor sensitive soul.’

‘Halloween – my son loves trick or treating and getting loads of sweeties! And he doesn’t like all of them so he gives them to me, winner!’

‘I’m an introvert. Spring and summer, with all their socialising, drain my battery. I love being at home, cosy clothes and blankets, candles burning, good hearty food. There’s no better way to spend the day than sitting under a blanket on the sofa with a good book, a cat or two on my lap and an endless supply of tea.’

‘An early morning walk in the crisp fall air with a little cup of coffee can truly change your life.’
