Trump’s not met Kim Jong-un yet but they’ve made a coin anyway. Our favourite 8 responses online
They’ve made a coin to commemorate Donald Trump’s meeting with Kim Jong-un even though it hasn’t happened yet and, you know, seems to get less likely with each passing day.
There's now a White House Military Office coin for the upcoming Trump Kim Jong Un summit. The North Korean dictator is referred to as "Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un." pic.twitter.com/tFAmE813Y1

Not surprisingly there were several things about it that people found troubling. Here are our favourite responses online.

Congratulations tin-pot dictators everywhere: not only will the United States fruitlessly negotiate with you, we will also emblazon your image in a coin and call you the "Supreme Leader" pic.twitter.com/czorOPYTzp

Pretty sure they made a typo on the right side there. I’m happy to help; it’s spelled “Orwellian Gangster Tyrant Kim Jong-Un.” You might to update that for future pressings for Hannity and the fellas.

Not only is this premature, but it's exactly the sort of legitimacy Kim Jong Un was hoping for out of this dumpster fire of an idea. https://t.co/0I8E0Bvlgu

There’s no way a president pre-pressing a challenge coin to commemorate a not-yet-held summit with the North Koreans could ever go wrong https://t.co/r2YkgGyb3u

It's sort of surprising that someone inside the Trump White House would think to put Dear Leader on equal footing w/ him on a commemorative coin. Then again…

That Trump/Kim « coin » reminds me of my best souvenir ever, this heart-shaped lighter with GWB and Saddam (the fighter clicks up to reveal the flame). pic.twitter.com/WlhHmvszft

Interesting that they put the Democratic People's Republic of Korea on this coin since I don't believe the U.S. formally recognizes the DPRK. Only South Korea (Republican of Korea) https://t.co/NmePYT9kBT

Imagine being in such a rush to legitimize yourself as America’s president that you also rushed to legitimize Kim as “Supreme Leader” of the DPRK pic.twitter.com/VpwiUyaCm0

Just in case you were wondering, it’s not the first time they’ve done this. In fact, these coins are a bit of a tradition, for Trump and many presidents before him.
These trip coins have existed for years, including during Obama administration.

A North Korea summit coin update… WH says it “did not have any input into the design” of the coin and offers pic of other coins in the past pic.twitter.com/6hctaWkaGs

Still think it would work better as a bottle top.
