A four-year-old Robert Dyas Christmas ad has resurfaced and it’s a baffling marvel

With people’s thoughts turning to what this year’s crop of Christmas ads will be like, Derry Girls star Nicola Coughlan has reminded us all of a brilliant but baffling offering from home appliance shop, Robert Dyas, and we’re hooked all over again.

It’s true that sexuality doesn’t determine what gifts or purchases might be right for someone, but it’s a weird flex nonetheless. Twitter reacted accordingly.

After a little research (twenty seconds on Google) we’ve determined that the Robert Dyas advert was itself an homage to a Red House advert along – sort of – similar lines.

“Can’t we all just get along?”

Maybe next Christmas we’ll see Argos do a Leaver/Remainer version.
