The best takedown of today’s Daily Mail front page was written by … the Daily Mail
Today’s Daily Mail got the hump with the House of Lords after it dared to question whether the way the government was going about Brexit was entirely in the national interest.

It’s the latest in a long line of Daily Mail front pages seemingly unable to understand the concept of a parliamentary democracy.
It’s not so long ago that one newspaper fulminated against proposals to limit the power of the House of Lords.
“True, the present Lords is far from perfect … but as a revising power and a check on the executive it nonetheless works fairly well, whichever party is in power.”
Indeed, it went on to describe it as “constitutional vandalism”.
And which paper was this? Step forward, the Daily Mail…

Of course it was!

Who would have suspected Dacre and the Mail of being hypocrites?

TOMORROW: Is there anything more unsavoury in British politics than a millionaire newspaper editor deliberately misleading readers over the purpose of parliamentary scrutiny to wallow in nationalist fantasies. No wonder the Daily Mail was yesterday described as a “bag of dicks.” pic.twitter.com/6J6uE7L1DL

So that's the rule of law, Parliamentary sovereignty, academic freedom, judicial independence, freedom of speech, political representation of half the population and now the House of Lords that Paul Dacre can't abide. If he hates British values so much why does he live here? pic.twitter.com/V6psmzZEBO

It’s DISGRACEFUL to sneer at 17.4m voters. It’s FINE to sneer at 16.1m voters absolutely every day. Something magical happens to democracy between 16.1m and 17.4m it’s complicated you wouldn’t understand. pic.twitter.com/qUfK18LIE6
