Danny Baker told Radio 2 exactly what he thinks of them

Danny Baker’s got a bit of a reputation for speaking his mind and last night he did it again, in some style.

Baker’s got a once a week show on 5 Live but we can’t remember the last time we heard him on Radio 2.

By coincidence sitting in for Chris Evans on the Radio 2 breakfast show this week is … Fearne Cotton.

We’ve no idea if she’s the sort of person Baker is thinking of (she started out in telly before joining Radio 1) but there’s no shortage of TV celebs on Radio 2 to choose from.

Anyway, back to Baker.

And there was more.

Took us back to the time he told Radio London bosses what he thought of them after they axed his radio show.

“The show’s been cancelled by the BBC. They don’t want this any more.

“It’s a dirty rotten shame and a rotten way they did it. Nobody phoned me. Apparently they were planning on getting round to telling me. I don’t want to go, I make no bones about it.

“BBC asked me not to say anything just yet about axing best show on British radio. Why? Because it’s embarrassing? Because they’ll look bad?”

“Deep thanks to everyone who has responded about the radio. We dwell amid pinheaded weasels who know only timid, the generic and the abacus.”

Baker’s still not heard back from Radio 2 as we write this, but hopefully he’ll let us know if he does.
