This Planet of the Apes thread is hilarious because of the fury and confusion it created
The good people of Movie Goofs created no end of fury and confusion when it had this to say about the ending to Planet of the Apes and we can’t believe we never spotted it.
Planet of the Apes (1968)
Plot holeIt is never explained how or why the Statue of Liberty was transported from Earth to the planet of the apes.

The replies it prompted are almost more entertaining than the film.
Seriously? The shock ending lays out the entire film.

Seriously?! It was the one moment where it became clear that it was a movie about time travel -that last scene was a warning. And apparently no one paid heed.

It wasn’t transported, it was on Earth. An Earth where humans have devolved into primitive state and apes have evolved into more intelligent beings. Charleton Heston’s character thought he was on some other planet but he was on earth all along.

Um…
What?
It's the same planet just in the future.— Mark Toth (aka Rancid Butter) (@TheButteryOne) August 1, 2018
Chatlton Heston is smarter than you.
— Bob Stine (@rstinejr) August 1, 2018
Wait, that wasn't a goof! Do you really not understand the point of that scene? The Statue of Liberty has never been on Earth.
What the scene revealed was that even in the future, the statue remained on the Planet of the Apes, where it was originally built.
— SeaWyrm (@SeaWyrm) August 1, 2018
Because it IS earth.

I was eight when I read the book and watched the film and I got the end message. Why didn’t you??? LMAO

And the ending wasn’t the only goof they spotted.
Planet of the Apes (1968)
ContinuityEven though Charlton Heston's character is named Taylor, Dr. Zira (Kim Hunter) can occasionally be heard calling him "Bright Eyes". pic.twitter.com/Qwkn2yLPcr

Planet of the Apes (1968)
Character errorJulius (Buck Kartalian) says, "You know what they say, 'human see, human do'". The actual cliché is "monkey see, monkey do".

Planet of the Apes (1968)
ContinuityDespite his character having a throat injury that renders him unable to speak, actor Charlton Heston insisted on speaking in many scenes.

After seeing this for every response. Why?

I’m guessing they’re hoping people will wise up and figure out that the original tweet was a joke.
— Daniel Humphrey (@danielihumphrey) August 2, 2018
Maybe the clue was in how Movie Goofs describes itself.
Parody! Goofs too subtle for IMDB. Joking not trolling. Submissions: use DM; don’t riff on title; I may already have similar joke planned; I can’t reply to all.
I may have sex with this thread, I love it so. https://t.co/0artIW9qLl
