Katie Hopkins tried to make a racist point and it massively backfired – the best 16 reactions
The former Apprentice quitter and sacked LBC presenter, Katie Hopkins, makes her living by being controversial – something she prefers to do by blowing a racist dog-whistle. She recently tried to draw people’s attention to the large amount of food establishments selling non-British cuisine in London, as though this were a bad thing, and a row of chip shops and branches of Gregg’s might be an improvement.
This is how she presented her evidence.

If anybody in the UK struggled to guess that this was, in fact, the UK, it can only be because they’d been up past their bedtime and needed their afternoon nap before settling down in front of Cbeebies.
The responses to the sight weren’t the horrified xenophobic reaction Ms Hopkins seems to have experienced – in fact, the diversity was widely viewed as an overwhelming positive. These were our favourite comments.

Love Edgware Road, some of the best food in London here.
Why are you frightened of people from different countries?

This Welshman in London LOVES Edgware Road, vibrant & full of delicious restaurants. Also went to china town the other night too! SO good! If you’re looking for some great Caribbean, I’d have a look at South London, maybe Brixton. God there’s loads!Damn it you’ve made me hungry!

I live Great Western Road Glasgow – near a mosque with many Asian food shops, these people are my neighbours not my enemy. The care home my dad was in near the mosque has plenty immigrant staff who treated my dad with care and dignity to his last day. You’re a racist clackwanker

I believe that’s the Edgware Road, built originally by the Romans, it became a popular area with the Huguenots in the 18th C, and then Arab migrants in the 19th C to the present day. It’s more British than you’ll ever be, arsewipe.
