Armando Iannucci made a jokey film pitch and suddenly it took on a life of its own
Here’s the brilliant Armando Iannucci throwing out a jokey film pitch on Twitter.
Film pitch.. Trump drugged and moved to a replica Whitehouse, where he carries on thinking he’s governing. Millions spent on hiring actors to play his staff, Senators, news anchors, people at rallies.
There you go. Studios, your highest bid please.— Armando Iannucci (@Aiannucci) September 5, 2018
Sounds great. So great, in fact, that people began to add their own ideas.
Cheaper version: tell him there's been a nuclear attack and put him in a bunker for the next 20 years – minimal sets and actors required.

Presumably at some stage Steve Bannon removes his face mask and it turns out to have been Tom Cruise all along.

(Admittedly the mask was never very convincing; it seems to be falling off half the time)

Hire Sacha Baron Cohen to play the leaders of foreign countries.

That’s not a film plot. That’s a solution.

And it also got some big name backing.
Want to play the real President ? https://t.co/gggWNGEfn1

A bit of a reverse “Dave”.
— rob delaney (@robdelaney) September 5, 2018
It'd actually be a double-Dave, as in addition to all the actors in Trumpworld, you'd also need a replica Trump in Realworld.

And then there was an update.
Er…looks like Hollywood’s interested. Now what do we do? https://t.co/oTB2KonqFO

Make the movie, Armando.
