This colourised footage of WW1 is blowing people’s minds
Filmmaker Peter Jackson’s latest project is something quite remarkable. He takes footage from WW1, in particular from the Western Front, and colourises it and turns it into 3D.
The result is the First World War in a way that you have never seen before.

It's really something, isn't it?!

I always presumed colourised film would make it seem more real and recent, but that's above and beyond …those people ARE US, and it happened here, in Europe

These guys would now bleed red rather than black. It brings the pain closer.

So real… I’ve seen those faces in life. Brothers, fathers, lovers, neighbours. Thanks for sharing!

Ridiculous as I know this sounds, it feels so real, brings it home even more than ever. I remember watching Falklands footage on the news at the time. . . this feels the same now, no longer detached. It's fabulous!!
