This composer received the oddest complaint letter and it really doesn’t disappoint
The latest series of Hunted on Channel 4 is a celebrity version of the exciting cat and mouse competition, part of this year’s fundraising push for StandUp2Cancer. If you have seen it, you will almost certainly have experienced the dramatic effects of the incidental music that drives the atmosphere, which was composed by the very talented Nick Harvey.
Unfortunately, not everyone has taken the programme at face value, if this strange email is anything to go by.
Thank you, E James, for getting in touch.
This is probably one of the strangest emails a composer of music for TV shows has ever received from a random stranger. #CelebrityHunted pic.twitter.com/huO8il2KHs

By anybody’s reasoning, it’s somewhat unfair to blame the composer for the content of the TV show, but Nick enjoyed the oddness of the email so much, he decided to give it pride of place on his wall.
There was a space on my studio wall that needed filling. Not any more. pic.twitter.com/h2DiSWV7Sq

He also sent his critic a reply, which gave a nod to the time Nick had been accused of sexism for suggesting people should buy their sons a goal and forgot to mention daughters, on account of not having any.
I will let you know if I get a response. pic.twitter.com/LiTn6JgSEJ

In an exciting development, E. James responded to the question – although not with an actual answer.
[sharp intake of breath]
E James has replied to my email.
Although he/she hasn’t directly addressed the question I put to him/her, I think we all know what the answer is. pic.twitter.com/WfFjFZqyba

We don’t hold out much hope of Nick getting his message across, but he may have had the last word.
