Women outnumbered men on Have I Got News For You but not everyone was happy about it
There was something a little bit different about BBC1’s Have I Got News For You on Friday.
With guest presenter Jo Brand and panellists Grace Dent and Kiri Pritchard-McLean there were more women on it than men.

It might not be the first time but if it’s happened before then we can’t remember it.

Except, well, not everyone was happy about it, as this person pointed out.

And comic Katy Brand said some people’s reactions might explain a lot.

Here’s a brief glimpse into the world of what people had to say after the show went out on Friday night.
Will someone please shut up that awful cackling woman whoever she is.#hignfy

Do you remember the sexist olden days when the guests on #hignfy guests were chosen because they were funny or interesting?

#hignfy imagine being the most annoying guest on a panel that includes Grace Dent. Stop cackling, lobster earrings.

The "comedian" bird sitting next to Paul Merton on #HIGNFY is not very funny and also very fucking irritating. Who the fuck is she?? (I don't want to know)

And here’s what Kiri Pritchard-McLean (and others) had to say in response.
Thanks for all your lush tweets about HIGNFY -earrings by @tattydevine . Lads slagging my laugh off- that’s what a woman sounds like when she’s having fun, soz you’re not more used to it. Changed my twitter settings, so keep yelling into the ether & I’ll keep laughing on tv.

Nothing says Twitter quite like "You're not expressing happiness properly. Stop having fun until further notice."

As a woman who has been asked to leave bars (“its not that kind of place”), “keep it down” in a restaurant and been told off for ruining a wedding because of my outrageous laugh, I hear ya. Your laugh is spectacular!
— Stevie Wise (@StevieWise) October 20, 2018
I loved that I could tell you were having a bloody good time 💪🏻
— Kathryn Cartwright (@kathryninstereo) October 20, 2018
Loved it. Only watched it cos you were on and your laugh was infectious which set both me and my partner off chuckling too. More power to ya.

Perfect.
