It’s hard to believe this Swedish heavy metal charity record isn’t a spoof
We’re all very familiar with Bob Geldof and Midge Ure’s charity brainchild single “Do They Know It’s Christmas?”, which is a staple of the festive season even now, 34 years after its release. What many may not know is that Sweden’s metal artists produced their own unique charity single the following year and it has to be seen to be believed.

The quality isn’t great, in more ways than one, but it’s still extraordinary. Written by Europe’s Joey Tempest, Give a Helpin’ Hand is like 1984, captured in amber, then reanimated by scientists using gene sequencing.
The single sold 50,000 copies, with all the revenue going to good causes in Africa, which is why we found this comment disappointing.

That definitely didn’t happen to Status Quo.
The footage recently went viral after Music Bam International posted it on Facebook, inviting over 32k comments, including these:

If you fancy singing along – here are the lyrics. Don’t forget your hairspray.
There’s a girl with a little child
To them the world’s so wild, so wild
And now the future has turned out
So insecure, insecure
There’s a boy and he’s wondering why
He rides alone under the clear blue sky
Oh, he’s been standing there for days
Just wondering why, oh, wondering why
Together we can change the world
Together we must try
Together we can save the world
And help us all survive
And give a helping hand
A helping hand
There’s a dream and we spread the word
That we all can save this world
There’s a sun that will shine for all of us
All our lives, yeah
Together we can change the world
Together we must try
Together we can save the world
And help us all survive
Oh, let’s all give a helping hand
Breaking! Prank your kids this Christmas with Elves Behavin’ Badly
