Get your skates on for festive food shop as Iceland turns store into ice rink
Just over two weeks to go until Christmas Day so if you haven’t started thinking about your festive food shop then you might want to get your skates on.
Literally so in the case of Iceland’s London Stratford branch, which has transformed its aisles into an ice rink.
A team of 12 ice rink experts worked through the night to fit the entire store with 250 square metres of synthetic ice. And this is what it looks like …
They did it to help families with the Christmas shop after research commissioned by frozen food chain said 4 in 5 parents wished they had more time to enjoy the run-up to the big day.
And what better way to take the edge off the Christmas food shop than by going skating at the same time.
There was even a locker room where people could get their skates on – and a pair of professional skaters who took to the frozen aisles to give it their seal of approval.
And for anyone who suffered a bump or a bruise on the ice, the good news was they didn’t have far to go for a packet of frozen peas.
