Someone called James O’Brien and claimed he wanted Brexit so the UK can have 3-pin plugs

LBC presenter, James O’Brien is an unequivocal Remainer, devoting a sizeable chunk of his weekday three-hour slot to demolishing arguments for leaving the EU, using facts and logic. He gets calls from both pro- and anti-EU members of the public, but when he speaks to Brexiters, he tries to discover which EU rules they don’t want.

One such caller, Robert, was yelled at by his mum during his call, but he didn’t let that phase him, going on to suggest that the UK’s safety was one major reason why he had voted to leave.

Robert said

“I won a deregulated country. We can strip away from the EU laws that we don’t like.”

“One of the ones for me is the plug system – I know it’s not very hugely [sic] but we obviously use the three-pin in this country. The EU don’t. So basically it means our safety aspects are a lot stronger than the generalisation of the EU.”

James was clearly bemused.

“You’ve come live on national radio.

You’ve described yourself as a Brexiteer.

You’re getting told off by your mum in the background.

And when I’ve asked you what you think you’ve won, you’ve said the right to have three-pin plugs that we already have.”

Nicely summed up.
