Jacob Rees-Mogg warned of ‘right wing extremism’ if Brexit is delayed and it’s a glorious self-own
Jacob Rees-Mogg has warned against the rise of ‘right wing extremism’ if Brexit is delayed.
The Brexit-loving Tory MP said MPs should beware of overturning the 2016 referendum result, saying the only one to benefit would be people like Tommy Robinson (or Stephen Yaxley-Lennon, as you might know him).
“If we try to stay and we stay beyond the European elections, there will only be one winner from that, and that would be Tommy Robinson.”
A rise of extremism would be the consequence of defying democracy.https://t.co/5G5fvfaQwC

Except people remembered Rees-Mogg has a bit of form when it comes to right wing extremism, and were very happy to point it out.
These 5 replies pretty much nail it.
Presumably, you told Steve Bannon just how awful extremism is when you hooked up last year at a Mayfair hotel? https://t.co/epjDWMTfED

You warning against the rise of your own ideas now? That’s confusing.

Britain has never rolled over to the threat of right wing extremism. We faced down Moseley at home, and helped defeat Hitler and Mussolini in Europe. With fascist friends like Steve Bannon, we will take no lectures from you. https://t.co/XVoKk0NvKT

I don't know what's stronger the smell of hypocrisy or bullshit?

Man with connections to fascist groups worldwide threatens rise in rightwing extremism. And he would know.
Rees-Mogg produces one from the Bannon playbook. https://t.co/dz4gQs6fRK

To conclude …
You've made this argument before. Again: choosing a policy because of threats of extremism is still morally bankrupt. https://t.co/0hLFWfY7sk
