The new Article 50 extension ends at Halloween – 16 spirited reactions
Having gone to Brussels to ask for a short extension, Theresa May has been offered one lasting until the 31st of October, which, being Halloween, is very apt for something that has been haunting the UK for years and seems both impossible to kill, yet resistant to being shocked completely into life.
The PM may not be very happy about it, because every day beyond the original Brexit date is another little nail in her political coffin, but Twitter has had quite a lot to say – even the people breaking the news.
I asked the PM whether she thinks her party will consider a Halloween Brexit date a trick or a treat… not even a lol I’m afraid.

The joke wasn’t lost on the rest of us, either.

At every stage we've been told that people knew what they were voting for. So maybe they knew they were voting to renew our EU membership every six months like a bus pass, the fucking psychics.

The UK will exit the EU on Halloween and the EU will happily celebrate the dead and departed as it does every year. Theresa May knocking on doors demanding treat sweets and threatening to trick the EU by delaying Brexit again if she doesn't get them. #Brextension Brexit Tension

Given it's a living dead project – I do love the fact that Brexit has been moved to Halloween.

Can't wait to dress as Brexit for Halloween this year. Basically I'll turn up to parties, say I'll make them better, ruin everything and shout at people for complaining about it.
