There’s a rather marvellous theory that the Queen brilliantly trolled Donald Trump with her choice of tiara for their big royal banquet together.

To be filed under ‘too good to check’, Twitter user Brian Gay writes that Her Majesty chose the Burmese Ruby Tiara which, well, over to Brian.

It wouldn’t be the first time HM has done this sort of thing – remember when she trolled the so-called president with her brooch last time he was in town?

‘The Queen wore her stunning Burmese Ruby Tiara on Monday evening, which she had Garrard & Co make for her in 1973, using stones from her private collection.

‘There are a total of 96 rubies in the tiara, which were originally part of a necklace given to her in 1947 as a wedding present from the people of Burma.

‘It is said the Burmese believe that these beautiful red gems have the ability to protect their owner from sickness and evil.’

Now we’re totally convinced. And it wasn’t the Queen’s only dig at her American guest.
