This husband has a very creative (NSFW) way of telling his wife she’s leaving hair in the shower

It’s probably not for everyone – very possibly it’s not for anyone – but this is a very creative and, let’s be honest, NSFW way of letting your partner know they’re leaving hair in the shower.

‘Told my wife to stop leaving hair in the shower or she’s regret it,’ said AN0N0M0US over on Reddit.

Don’t say we didn’t try to warn you.

‘This deserves to be in the Louvre,’ said cr1msonxo.

And drewhead118 took that suggestion seriously, very seriously indeed, by doing this.

“Bust,” AN0N0M0US, human hair on porcelain.

Negative space and minimalist renderings are on full display here in this piece that challenges our assumptions on both art and selected media of portrayal. In the wider history of painting, there is often a divide between the world depicted and the manner of depiction itself… AN0N0M0US asks us this question: “how can we depict scenes of human tragedy and triumph using mere oil paints and pigments? What do these colors and chemicals know of humanity?”

It turns out that the solution offered is to use the human form to depict the human form. Hair here is masterfully employed to suggest the shape of a fertility idol. Exaggerated lines and curves form reproductive organs, capturing the very heat of life itself. Though the lines are sparse, this indeed serves as an intentional feature of the work. This outline could be anyone, and thus it finds the ability to represent everyone.

Is there a medium more intimate than the hair of a lover’s own body splayed masterfully on the walls of such a private chamber? Is there any art piece thus more inherently human than this depiction of our own condition, rendered entirely from a byproduct of and in a shrine of such utterly human familiarity? Indeed AN0N0M0US wants us to ask these very questions, and reach our own conclusions as the shower begins to run cold. What could make a more perfect representation, a better union of subject and medium?

Work of art.
